In Uganda, the BEB team has been working to store all GPS coordinates of children’s homes onto Children First Software (CFS). This project has proven to be a worthwhile endeavor. In the first phase of collecting GPS coordinates, 77 homes were collected, captured into CFS, and have been tested on Google Maps.

This new advancement will give the Ministry of Gender, Labour, and Social Development (MGSLD) and non-government organizations (NGOs) support by being able to locate each children’s home in Uganda with more accuracy. The MGSLD will be able to use the GPS feature in CFS to pinpoint districts and regions where more homes are concentrated specifically. This will help with efficiency as the MGSLD works to provide government aid to each children’s home.

Continuing to collect and store all GPS coordinates of children’s homes on CFS in Uganda will greatly improve the lives of the children living in these homes. This simple tool is an example of what BEB is all about; creating convenience, productivity, and organization in many children’s homes and governments across the globe.
