Beneath the warm Zambian sun, our BEB team recently had the joy of joining nearly 1,000 adults and children for “Homecoming”—a beautiful gathering marking the return of Orphan Sunday to its roots in Zambia, where it all began 23 years ago. It’s amazing to reflect on how a movement that started in one small Zambian church has now inspired communities in more than 120 countries around the globe.
The afternoon in Lusaka was alive with energy: inspiring speakers, uplifting praise music, and the pure laughter of children playing games under the vivid African sky. But what made this day truly unforgettable was watching Zambia’s government and faith community come together—side by side, unified in their commitment to children.
The Ministry of Community Development and Social Services (MCDSS) was well-represented, standing alongside pastors and local church leaders to show just how powerful true partnership can be. With the help of BEB and our Children First Software, everyone present witnessed how Zambia is moving from words to real action: making sure children move out of institutional care and into loving, supportive families. It was a living picture of hope restored, and a reminder of what’s possible when government and church join hands for children’s futures.
One unforgettable highlight was seeing BEB’s partnership recognized on the big screen—an honor, yes, but the true reward was simply sharing in the joy of so many families. We sang, we celebrated, and we deepened the friendships and trust that help our mission succeed. As the sun set over Lusaka, our team left with full hearts—thankful for new memories, for restored hope, and for the families that now stand as a beacon for vulnerable children across Zambia and beyond.
