The BEB team in Ecuador traveled to Guayaquil to meet with La Roca Children’s Home, a local organization providing foster care to vulnerable children.

During their time together, the team gained a deeper understanding of La Roca’s foster care model—exploring how families are identified, trained, and supported, as well as the safeguards in place to ensure each child receives thoughtful, consistent care. These conversations highlighted both the dedication behind the work and the opportunity to further strengthen systems that support children and families.

The BEB team also introduced Children First Software (CFS), demonstrating how it can enhance foster care efforts by bringing greater clarity, consistency, and long-term sustainability to every step of the process. From the family registration module to ongoing case management, CFS is designed to support more informed decisions and better outcomes for children.

In the coming months, an important milestone will be reached as the family registration module within CFS launches with the first families in Ecuador. This step marks meaningful progress for the country’s child protection system. While foster care is still developing in Ecuador, growing collaboration between local organizations and government leaders is helping build the structure needed for it to expand and thrive.

Ultimately, this progress is about more than improving processes or implementing new tools. It is about ensuring that children are known by name, that their stories are protected, and that they are given real opportunities to grow up in safe, loving families.
